Launch of Mass Net Distribution 2023/2024

The Ministry of Health through National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) and partners are conducting a mass Long Lasting Insecticides Treated Nets (MLLIN) distribution campaign 2017. This is a planned replacement of the nets that were distributed in 2014/2015 to achieve Universal Coverage of nets in all population at risk from malaria, in line with WHO guidelines of replacing nets every 3 years. The 2017 mass LLIN campaign targets a population of 23,088,198 living in 24 targeted malaria endemic and epidemic-prone counties, where a total of about 15 million nets will be distributed. The campaign is conducted in phases, where a number of Counties are clustered together and distribution done. The campaign is funded through partnership between the Government of Kenya, Global Fund for AIDS/HIV, TB and Malaria (GFATM) and The US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI). So far 3.2 million nets have been distributed in Kisumu, Migori, Homabay, Vihiga and Siaya where 3.2 m LLINs were distributed. The rest of the nets will be distributed in 19 targeted malaria endemic counties between August and October 2017. The following are the 19 targeted counties; Two highland epidemic counties in Nyanza region (Nyamira and Kisii) will distribute their net in August 2017; Seven Rift Valley region epidemic prone counties (Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia and West Pokot); Two subcounties in Baringo (Koibatek and Mogotio Sub counties); Three western region Counties (Bungoma Kakamega Busia); All the Six (6) coastal region endemic counties (Kwale, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River and between August and October. Preparatory activities’ have already been undertaken in all these Counties.
